Hey Prayer Warriors! Who likes a good treasure hunt?
You set out the clues, and in your head, the path to the prize is crystal clear. But then your kids start the hunt. What’s obvious to you is hidden to them. They get confused, frustrated, and eventually throw their hands up, crying out, "I can't find it! Just tell me where it is!" That fun game turns into a frustrated struggle.
We sometimes project that same feeling onto God. When life is hard—a tough diagnosis, a crushing bill, or a relationship crisis—we whisper, “God, are You even there? Do You see what I'm going through?"
But here’s the powerful truth: You are not lost to God. He is never confused about where you are. He knows exactly where you are and what you need, because He is the ultimate Seeker who laid the path for you.
In Exodus 3 God speaks to Moses. The Israelites were slaves in Egypt, and their suffering was intense. Then God says this, Exodus 3:7-8:
“The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey...”
This passage reveals three incredible truths about who our God is.

He Is the God Who Sees. God says, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people.” This isn't a casual glance; it's an intimate, personal awareness of every detail of your pain. Whatever seems overwhelming and hidden—God sees it. He sees the effort you’re putting in, the fear you’re fighting, and the tears you’ve cried. You are not invisible to Him.

He Is the God Who Hears. He says, “I have heard them crying out.” This is why we pray! They didn't suffer in silence. Our God is not silent or distant. He leans in to listen to the desperation, the hope, and the faith in your prayer. Your prayer is a direct line to the heart of the One who acts.

He Is the God Who Comes Down. This is the best part! God says, “So I have come down to rescue them.” Our God doesn't just observe; He intervenes. He steps into human history. This whole story points us to Jesus. Why did God promise to "come down"? Because the ultimate, eternal rescue required Him to become one of us. Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of the "God who comes down." He put on skin, lived perfectly, and died on the Cross to deliver us. Because Jesus came down, we know God is always active and working!
So, as we head into our prayer time, let's step out of that feeling of being lost or unseen and confidently pray to the God who sees, hears, and comes down!
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal one area where you’ve been acting like God is distant or unaware. Then, take a moment to specifically thank Jesus—the ultimate demonstration of God coming down—for stepping into your situation.
Let's pray for people who feel stuck in a seemingly endless cycle of suffering or bad circumstances. Pray that they would have a moment where they feel the tangible presence of the God who sees them and the faith to cry out to the God who hears them.
