Have you ever noticed how time erodes our awareness of things that used to feel prominent? Like that New Year's Resolution? Or maybe a hard-won lesson you learned last year? It’s not that we intentionally dismiss the truth; it just slowly fades into the background noise of life.
In our spiritual life, this is dangerous. We have these massive, world-changing promises from God throughout the Bible, but they can slowly become less important than our to-do list or our daily worries. So, let’s press the reset button today and remind ourselves of three fundamental, non-negotiable truths about our role as prayer warriors. We’re going to be looking at a bunch of promises in the bible today, so you may need a notebook and pen to keep up. These are the things we must never forget: The first, We Grow in our Faith.
Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." When we pray, we aren't just wishing on a star; we are standing on a promise. But it requires us to believe God is actually paying attention. Look at the requirement for faith in verse 6: Hebrews 11:6 tells us, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." God is a rewarder. He isn't just tolerant of your prayers; He rewards them. Because of that confidence, we don't have to carry the burden of the outcome. We just carry the request to Him. 1 Peter 5:7 commands us: "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." We grow in our faith by confidently giving it to God.
We must never forget that The Lord Hears Us. So, we have faith. But does He hear us? The Bible is overwhelmingly clear. Psalm 34:15 says, "The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry." He is attentive! He’s leaning in. Jeremiah 29:12 gives us this incredible guarantee: "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." God hears us. We pray with absolute authority by aligning our hearts with His will. 1 John 5:14 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." God is listening, He hears us!
And the best news? You aren't praying alone. I love Romans 8:34. It points us straight to Jesus: "Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us." Come on, that’s good news! Jesus is at the right hand of the Father, backing up your prayers. You have the ultimate prayer partner. Don’t forget, we grow in our faith, God hears us.
And Heaven Responds. We need to know that Heaven responds. Even when you don't see the answer immediately, spiritual dynamics are shifting the moment you speak. Daniel didn't get an answer for three weeks. But look at what the angel told him in Daniel 10:12: "Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them." Since the first day! The delay wasn't a denial; the response was dispatched the moment Daniel prayed.
It’s the same promise given to Zechariah in Luke 1:13: "But the angel said to him: 'Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard.'"
